Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What's the Travelers Trust Promo Program?
A: It's an innovative way for travelers, including those traveling individually or with their family, to take advantage of less-expensive group travel rates. As long as you're a member of a group or organization that participates in the program, you're eligible to receive the lower rate on your travel insurance policy. Again, you don't need to travel with other members of your group; you can have your own itinerary.
Q: What do I have to do to get the lower rate?
A: All you need to do is enter your organization's assigned Promo code in the corresponding field of the Quote Form. The discount will automatically be applied to your premium quote. If your group doesn't have a Promo code, inform the group's manager or director to contact us immediately for enrollment details. It's quick and easy.
Q: What do you cover?
A: You'll receive the benefits of a major medical insurance policy, such as coverage for inpatient and outpatient hospital charges; physician, surgeon, and specialists' fees; diagnostic and lab costs; and many more services. But in addition to a comprehensive medical plan, you'll also have coverage for lost luggage and trip interruption, natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and a host of other benefits. Furthermore, you'll get access to 24-hour emergency travel assistance and embassy referrals, as well. (See What's Covered? for more details.)
Q: Do I have to pay a Deductible?
A: You may choose to have no deductible, or a deductible of $100, $250, $500, $1000, or $2500 per Certificate Period.
Q: If I request an online quote will I be pressured to buy?
A: No, that isn't the way we do things. All quotes are made instantaneously online; we don't even ask for your name or email address.
Q: If I like the quote, how do I go about buying the insurance?
A: The Quote page is also an order form. If you like the quote, just fill out the form and click the "Order" button.
Q: How long does it take before my application is approved?
A: Technically, as soon as you buy the insurance. After a few minutes, you'll receive your Confirmation by email with your policy fulfillment kit. We know you're busy, so we've designed the process to be as streamlined and convenient as possible.
Q: Is pregnancy covered?
A: Certain complications of pregnancy are covered during the first 26 weeks of pregnancy. (See What's Covered? for more details.)
Q: I like to snow ski. Will getting coverage be a problem?
Our standard policy will provide coverage for injuries sustained while engaging in recreational downhill or cross-country skiing and snowboarding, as long as you operate only within prepared and marked territories and heed the advice of local authorities or ski schools. If you're more adventurous or engage in other forms of skiing (or other normally-excluded sports and physical activities), you'll need to purchase the optional Hazardous Sports Rider to obtain additional coverage. Please review the Policy and Rider for complete details.
Q: Can I get insurance if I have a pre-existing condition?
A: If you're a U.S. citizen younger than 70 years of age and buying at least three months of initial insurance coverage, you're covered for acute onsets of pre-existing conditions, but you must obtain treatment within 24 hours of the condition's unexpected outbreak or occurrence. (See What's Covered?for more details.)
Q: Is this insurance dependable?
A: Your policy is underwritten by Lloyd's, the world's oldest and largest insurance market. They carry ratings of A from both AM Best and Standard and Poor's, so you can rest assured that the company's financial strength and security are without question. A well-known and highly recognized leader in the accident and health insurance industries, Lloyd's provides coverage for millions of people worldwide.
Q: Can't I just buy travel insurance through a cruise line?
A: Although certainly possible, it's generally safer to purchase travel insurance from a dedicated insurer. A major benefit of travel insurance is the protection of your investment should the travel carrier cease operations. If the cruise line went bankrupt either before or during your excursion, it's quite likely that any insurance you purchased from them might also become worthless.
Q: Can I buy travel insurance after my trip has begun?
A: Absolutely. But just remember, coverage will start from your purchase forward; in other words, it won't be retroactive.
Q: What happens if the airline cancels my flight?
A: Your policy includes around-the-clock emergency travel assistance. If you become stranded, you can access this service anywhere in the world to receive help in rebooking a cancelled flight or making hotel reservation changes.
Q: What do I do if my passport gets lost or stolen?
A: Again, Atlas Travel Assistance Services (which is available twenty four hours a day, seven days a week while your coverage is in effect) will help you to get a replacement passport and other travel documents.
Q: If I cancel my trip, can I cancel my insurance, too?
A: Yes. You can cancel your policy coverage any time before it goes into effect and receive a full refund, no questions asked.
Q: How long does it take to get my ID Cards and Policy?
A: Your ID Cards will be included in the Confirmation email and you can print them out immediately. There will also be a link that you can follow to download your Policy, and one that will allow you to log into your ClientZone.
Q: What's a ClientZone?
A: It's like having your very own control panel to manager your account. When you log into your ClientZone, you'll be able to:
- Extend or renew your insurance.
- Reprint an ID Card.
- Obtain a Visa Letter, as required by some embassies and consulates. You can also use it for the Schengen Visa.
- Study destination, weather, and travel security information using our Travel Intelligence and Planning System (TIPS).
Q: Do I really need travel insurance?
A: In this fast-moving and ever-changing world, buying travel insurance to protect you while you're away from home is a prudent and financially sound decision. Traveling internationally subjects you to a number of risks, ranging from lost luggage and unexpected itinerary changes to medical emergencies and even acts of terrorism. A comprehensive travel insurance policy can protect you against major financial loss, and also help to ensure your peace of mind.
All of our insurance is sold online, with no pressurized sales tactics. Nonetheless, you can expect the same personal attention to your email requests as you would from any local salesman. After all, they don't call us Travelers Trust for nothing!
